Birch Bark Westies was established in 1992, when my first home bred champion was born, CH Birch Bark Mac The Knife. Mac, who had the lines of tried and true New England pedigrees. He taught me how to show a westie as he was show dog and he did it his way. He was a beautiful sturdy dog, and I finished his championship by showing him myself in the Bred By Classes.

The line of which Birch Bark was established, and begun, was upon the addition of  CH Country Girl Erin O Birch Bark.  Erin brought the English lines to my program, being the daughter of famed Montgomery winner CH Stergo Bronco Billy of Famecheck desent. Erin was bred to home bred CH Birch Bark Mac the knife, of tried and true old New England lineage, and then line bred into my program. Strong dogs not owned by Birch Bark that were contributors  and line bred into my lines are,  NOR ENG CAN AM INT CH Oaklunds Max Mekker, AM CAN CH Elsinore Opus One, Ch Country Boy Rootin Tootin, ENG AM CH Whitebrier Jollimont, ENG AM CH Olac Moonblaze, ENG CH Lymehills Drambuie, Eng CH Hopecharm Willie Makeit of Karamynd  and AM CAN CH Raglan Its All About Harold and ENG CH Lindenka Branigan. It is noted many of these dogs are notable winners across the globe, including Westminster wins and Crufts (Europe’s most prestegious), as well as noted sires and dams of extrodinary pedigrees.

We throughout the years are proud of either breeding, or owning over 30 American Champions and Canadian Champions. Birch Bark Westies are proud to boast of many Best in Breeds, Group Placements and Specialty and Sweepstake Wins.

More importantly than winning in the show ring is breeding Westies with good health, temperament and intelligence. My Westies are known throughout the Westie world of being smart, sweet and friendly and full of fun and fire. I strive for Westies who are genetically healthy, and study every potential breeding which I plan; looking as far as Europe to assure a good breeding combinations and to assure quality.

The Westies I breed go to live, and are part of families around the USA and Canada. I continue to receive wonderful letters and pictures of my puppies and adults that were placed over 17 years ago.

My Westies are a part of my family. I do not have a kennel, and have a small manageable amount of Westies at all times that live in the home and sleep in the human bed.

I am very proud of my lines and the care of which I take to assure the best of the breed and  breed  superior westies.
